One important thing to note: Many agents and brokers have listings that they are marketing outside the MLS, for various reasons. You should not choose your agent because he or she toutes continuous access to off-market “deals.” You should choose your agent because he or she has the ability to counsel you on whether such properties are suitable for you.
Because with any real estate purchases, the devil is in the details. That “condo” you heard about off market? It could actually be a TIC that’s in the process of condo converting, and which would involve you assuming ownership of a tenant-occupied unit where the tenant has a lifetime lease. You get the picture.
